The purpose was the transformation of a degraded ground floor and its untapped exterior space into an architectural studio, combining and featuring all the quality characteristics of the area in which it is located.
“Depo” area of Thessaloniki, especially Vafopoulou and Spetson streets, is mainly characterized by the tall and dense rows of trees along the sidewalks and the front yards of the buildings. The streets create the feeling of a tree-lined arcade with its own microclimate, especially during the summer when the trees foliage blocks a large amount of direct sunlight.
The studio is divided into three distinct zones, the outdoor area, the primary office space, and the secondary uses.
The design of the exterior creates a smooth transition from the public into the private, while offering an outdoor space of relaxation for employees. The sidewalk and the entrance level are connected by a ramp, enclosed on the one side by the perimeter planting and on the other by a railing made of black perforated metal sheet.
